A PMS Tea Story: [Post Menstrual Syndrome or Dysmenorrhea (Menstrual Suffering)]. During the Spring and Autumn Period (770—476 B.C.), Imperial Concubine Zhao gave birth to a baby named Yingzheng (namely Chin Dynasty First Emperor), Ying Yiren, when he was a hostage, eventually escaped back to Qin, but he left Imperial Concubine Zhao alone.

Under the protection of a local ruffian named Lao’ai, she sequestered herself from the world with Lao’ai for six years. It was said that during those years, Imperial Concubine Zhao suffered from very serious dysmenorrhea. Fortunately she was taken back to Qin and was treated by a highly skilled doctor named Bianque of that time. He cured Imperial Concubine Zhao successfully by using the fennel and peach kernel.

Till now, among the people, they still regard fennel and peach kernel as efficacious medicine for dysmenorrhea. Caution: This product may contain nuts.

Steeping Suggestions

Portions Generally, 1 Tbsp loose tea/16 oz water

Tisane: Heat water until boiling (212ºF). Steep 5 minutes.

Brewing Iced Tea Hot Method: Use ½ the recommended amount of water for the amount of tea. Steep the tea for the recommended time (see above). Remove tea leaves. Add the remaining amount of cold water. Sweeten as necessary and chill.

Tea Latte Make a tea concentrate by brewing tea in ½ the recommended amount of water. Add steamed milk and foam.

Simple Guidelines to Naturally Decaffeinate Tea

Simply steep the tea for 30-45 seconds in hot water and pour off the liquid. Then add hot water and steep in the manner you would normally use to brew a cup of that tea. 80-90% of the caffeine will be released.
